Why track your mood?

Levvi is a mood tracker that connects your daily emotions to your menstrual cycle in one tap. Research published in the Journal of Affective Disorders shows that up to 75% of women experience mood changes linked to hormonal fluctuations throughout their cycle. Logging how you feel each day helps you spot recurring emotional patterns, prepare for challenging phases, and take better care of your mental health. In Levvi, mood tracking is built directly into the cycle tracker, so everything stays simple and integrated without switching between separate apps or journals.

How to access mood tracking

Levvi keeps mood logging inside the menstrual cycle flow so you never have to search for it. To access it:

  1. In the bottom navigation bar, tap the Cycle tab (drop icon)
  2. Tap any day on the calendar
  3. On the day actions screen, tap Log day (or Edit, if a log already exists)
  4. The mood section appears automatically under the heading "How are you feeling?" -- it is always visible, no need to expand anything

The 7 mood options

Levvi offers 7 mood options so you can pick the one that best matches how you feel right now:

  • Happy -- when you feel good, upbeat, and cheerful throughout the day
  • Calm -- peaceful days without major emotional swings
  • Sensitive -- when emotions run high and everything feels more intense
  • Sad -- days of low energy or melancholy, common in certain cycle phases
  • Anxious -- when restlessness, excessive worry, or difficulty relaxing take over
  • Irritable -- when small things bother you more than usual
  • Energetic -- high-energy days when you feel ready to take on anything

The options appear as selectable chips inside Levvi. Tap once to select and tap again to deselect. You can choose only one mood per daily log, which keeps the data clean and easy to analyze over multiple cycles.

Step-by-step guide to logging your mood

Where your mood data appears

Levvi uses your mood data across 4 different features to give you a complete picture of your emotional health:

  • Health Hub -- Cycle card: in the expanded view of the cycle card inside Health Hub, you see "Today's mood" with the mood you logged for the day
  • Wellbeing Score: your mood directly influences your wellbeing score in Levvi. Positive moods like Happy and Energetic raise the score, while Sad, Anxious, and Irritable lower it
  • Calendar: days with a mood log display a small visual indicator on the calendar cell, making it easy to see at a glance which days you have already logged
  • PMS Fingerprint: mood data feeds into Levvi's PMS prediction system, helping the app identify your most frequent premenstrual symptoms over 2-3 cycles

Connecting mood and your menstrual cycle

Levvi helps you understand how each of the 4 menstrual cycle phases affects your emotions. By logging mood consistently, you start to notice patterns:

  • Menstrual phase: feeling more sensitive, sad, or tired is common during the first 3-5 days. Your body is renewing and needs extra rest
  • Follicular phase: after menstruation, estrogen levels rise and many people feel more energetic, happy, and motivated during this 7-10 day window
  • Ovulation: peak energy and wellbeing for many people, with elevated mood and positive outlook lasting about 2-3 days
  • Luteal phase: as progesterone drops over 10-14 days, irritability, anxiety, and sharper mood swings are common, especially in the days before menstruation

Understanding these patterns in Levvi helps you plan ahead, respect your limits, and adapt your daily routine to match each cycle phase.

Tips for effective mood tracking

  1. Log every day: consistency is what reveals patterns. Even on neutral days, make the log -- choosing "Calm" is already valuable data for Levvi's analysis
  2. Be honest with yourself: there is no right or wrong mood. Logging "Irritable" or "Sad" is just as important as "Happy" for understanding your cycle
  3. Review your patterns monthly: after 2 or 3 complete cycles, check the calendar and Health Hub in Levvi. You will start noticing which phases bring which emotions
  4. Combine with other logs: logging flow, symptoms, and mood together gives you a much more complete view of your cycle and makes it easier to share insights with healthcare providers
  5. Use the Wellbeing Score as a barometer: track how your wellbeing score in Levvi changes throughout the month. Recurring dips on certain days may signal moments when you need extra self-care
